Believed to be among the rarest combinations of Edition 507 in the country
By 2013, AMG knew what was coming. Emissions regulation and the march to turbocharging meant the hand-built, naturally aspirated 6.2-litre M156 V8, the engine that defined a generation of AMG, was entering its final chapter. The Edition 507 was Affalterbach's farewell: not a badge exercise, but a genuine send-off with the SLS AMG's forged pistons, lightweight crankshaft and uprated connecting rods, lifting output to 507PS. Composite front brakes and the aluminium bonnet came from the C63 Black Series. The result was near-Black Series performance in a car with four doors and no pretence - 0–62mph in 4.2 seconds, and a soundtrack no turbocharged successor has matched.
Just 233 examples were registered in the UK across the model's short production run, and the overwhelming majority were coupés. The saloon accounts for around 40 cars nationwide, and Fire Opal red was chosen by only a handful of original buyers, making this believed to be among the rarest combinations of Edition 507 in the country. As the last naturally aspirated V8 C-Class, values have only strengthened, and the 507 has firmly established itself as a modern AMG collectible.
This example presents in exceptional order throughout. The Fire Opal paintwork is deep and unmarked, the AMG Performance seats show minimal wear, and the car drives precisely as AMG intended. The MCT transmission crisp, the V8 delivering its full voice. It is offered with 4 owners from new, a documented Mercedes service history , and 44,000 miles.
The Edition 507 rewards the collector twice: as one of the most involving sports saloons of its era, and as a fixed point in AMG history that can never be repeated. They are not making any more naturally aspirated V8s. And they were never making many of these.
